Cascadia Camping

I took Monday off and enjoyed a camping trip to Cascadia State Park. It rained most of the time, but ended up being a pretty fun adventure anyway.

We ended up constructing a pretty elaborate home base to keep us dry and warm and our fire burning.

My giant experiment for the trip was to figure out how to cook cinnamon roles with out a oven to bake it in. We started with Grands brand cinnamon rolls.

We attempted this in two ways.
My approach was to wrap the roll around a stick and try to roast it marshmallow style over a open file.
Eric's style was to roast it still in its cinnamon roll shape.

His turned out looking very nice.

Mine ended up looking drippy because it wouldn't stay wrapped around the stick.
They both end up being half raw in the middle.

Ultimately we experimented with a lot of food, but I didn't take an adequate amount of pictures. I will have to do better in the future because a lot of it turned out AWESOME and I would like to share some success too.

Happy Easter

I caught this fish in the smolt trap today. He was a really pretty Cutthroat, and since it's Easter, and he was colorful like an egg, I dubbed him the Easter egg fish. Plus I just love fish, and was basically thrilled to catch something interesting in the trap after days and days of nothing.

Yoga Bag

This is my new crocheted yoga bag.
I followed a pattern from This Blog! I made mine very colorful because I wanted to to be cheerful and exciting. I really enjoy seeing this hanging in my closet now. It actually inspires me to work out more :-)

Crime Shows

Blog prompt by TJ - Who said to get my ass writing again even if I have to write about how much I love something like the TV show Castle. So here goes: my list of favorite crime investigation TV shows.

Castle - (my newest favorite) I started watching this show because of how much I adore Nathan Fillion. He carries a lot of the show by being awesome, but the concept itself is really good too. The possibility for one-liners is impressive. This show has been added to my "don't miss an episode" list. (If I kept such a list, which I should, because I like to make lists.)
Bones - (my absolute favorite) Enough said, I just think this show is awesome. Emily Deschanel and David Boreanaz rock together. The entire cast seems to have good chemistry, and the show has a bunch of great likable characters. I've watched every episode made, and most of them many, many times.

The Finder - (my most awesome one-liners favorite) A spin off of Bones, this show has more humor, and some of the greatest one-liners you can hope to get from a 'crime show.' I'm not really sure it counts as a crime show, but it's my list so shut up and keep reading.

Endgame - (my most unique favorite) One agoraphobic chess genesis refuses to leave a hotel where he lives in the penthouse suite. He uses his superb mind to solve crimes (of which there are a lot of for one upscale hotel) and manages to keep from being evicted. This show is carried by the actors awesome Russian accent and the super HOT bartenderss!

Numbers - (when nothing else sounds good favorite) When there is nothing else on I'm making my way through Numbers in the background. I like this show for the nerdy lead. I'm not sure of its strengths and weaknesses yet. I'll get back to you.

Psych - (most wacky favorite) Fake psychic detectives! Yes please. Hilarity and pineapples.

NCIS- (my first favorite) And you never forget your first... crime show. You can never go wrong with NCIS. The characters are top notch, and the plot was always pretty good too. I don't watch it much anymore, but there is not a really good reason for that. I got behind at one point, and need to go back and catch up with the missing episodes.

Night Pictures of Newport Bridge

I'm camping in Newport this week and took a couple pictures of the bridge. I've always thought this was one of the most beautiful places in low light. I'll probably be taking more pictures of it in the future.
During my walk. Viewed from the west.

From my camp site. Viewed from the East.
